We specialize in providing the following services: design searches; filing, and prosecution of national designs in Italy and San Marino; filing and prosecution of European Community designs.
Italian national design
Italian designs have duration of 5 years, starting from the filing date. Subsequently, they can be extended for 4 further periods of 5 years, up to a total of 25 years. The time extensions are not automatically granted, and it is necessary to file a request for extension, and to pay a fee, every 5 years.
In order to file an application for the registration of a design, we need: an instructional letter containing the full name and address of the applicant (in case of legal entity, its full official name and address) and data concerning the inventors (full names and nationality); a set of drawings or images; a Power of Attorney signed by the applicant (an emailed copy is acceptable for filing – legalization is not required).
European Community design
European Community design registrations protect designs on the whole territory of the European Union, which currently comprises 28 countries (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom).
